NC5-2 vote ends contract and requests hardware removal
Asheville City Council voted 5-2 on Aug. 25 to terminate the city’s Flock Safety contract. The resolution requested removal of Flock hardware and directed city employees to suspend access, searches, and data sharing.
The resolution also calls for a comprehensive review and policy recommendations on the future use, oversight, and privacy safeguards for surveillance technology. The source does not state a separate removal-completion date.
