Civil-liberties, privacy, data-sharing and security concerns

“This contract is not being renewed because of serious concerns around civil liberties and civil rights issues, particularly around privacy and the data that is being collected from these cameras.”

— Dean Gialamas, LAPD Chief Information Officer

LAPD allowed its Flock Safety agreement to expire after three years. The department said it had unresolved civil-liberties, privacy, security, data-sharing, and data-retention concerns, though it said it may continue discussing a revised agreement with Flock.
