County voted to end Flock contract over privacy concerns

“The cameras need to come down as well as the contracts ending.”

— Commissioner Jody Madeira, as quoted by Fox 59

Fox 59 reports that Monroe County voted to cancel its Flock Safety contract. Commissioner Jody Madeira cited concerns that the county could collect vehicle-location information it could not confidently govern, including concern about access by outside law-enforcement agencies.

The report says Monroe County had six cameras and that officials were focused on their removal after the contract decision. The Monroe County decision was separate from Bloomington’s earlier decision to end its own Flock contract.
