WIBoard defunded program 32-1 over Fourth Amendment concerns
“There are well-documented concerns about how this company operates and uses its technology to violate people's 4th Amendment rights.”
— Board Chair Patrick Miles
The Dane County Board of Supervisors voted 32-1 on April 16, 2026 to strip $80,000 from the sheriff’s budget earmarked for the 24-camera Flock network, ending the program May 31. Supervisors cited informal data-sharing with federal agencies and more than 140 out-of-state agency accesses granted by the sheriff’s office. Supervisor Chad Kemp, who led the resolution, voiced “severe concerns about the ethics of this company.”
