WICouncil rescinded contract after Flock misled officials on heat maps
“I don't know how I can make a decision or discern what's right and what's wrong, or even the capabilities of the system if you lie to me.”
— Deputy Mayor Karl Buelow
Oshkosh’s Common Council voted 7-0 on April 22, 2026 to rescind its Flock Safety contract just 24 hours after approving renewal 5-2. The reversal came after Police Chief Dean Smith confirmed Flock representatives had falsely denied the system creates vehicle heat maps. The city will remove all 25 cameras before summer.
